Lisa Pecot-Hébert holds a bachelor’s degree in Social Science from the University of California, Berkeley, a master’s degree from American University in Broadcast Journalism and Public Affairs, and a doctorate degree from the University of Georgia, Grady College of Journalism and Communication in Communication. She also holds a graduate certificate in Women and Gender Studies from the University of Georgia and a diversity certificate from DePaul University.
She has been teaching at the college level for over 15 years. She is a multimedia professor in the Annenberg School for Journalism and Communication and she is also the associate director for the undergraduate journalism program.
Lisa has been a staff reporter for the Dallas Morning News, The New Orleans Tribune and Examiner.com. In the past, she has served as the producer for Urban Pediatrics, a local health program in New Orleans, hosted a hybrid music/talk show called Tipitina’s: Live from the 8th Floor and held a graduate assistantship with the Peabody Awards.
Lisa is bi-racial, adopted, and the mother of one son. She enjoys writing about gender, body image and the media as well as issues of race and identity.,
